 Neighbors in Need (NIN)

NIN is a special mission offering of the United Church of Christ that supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the US.  Please look for the offering envelope and donate.  Thank you!

Mission for October:  COATS!

During this month we will be collecting new, clean, gently-used men's, women's and children's coats.  All sizes.  Please consider helping with this very important need in our community.  Drop them off at the back of church.  Thank you!

Send Us Your Family Photos! ASAP!

This November, we will once again be producing and distributing our annual report and updated directory. And this year, we'll be adding a new feature – your family's photograph. So, take time now to check our current directory and update your contact  information. Then send us that update along with a download of the  photograph of your family that we can print. It'll be fun to see everyone's smiling faces.  Send to Linda ASAP at stvincentucc@gmail.com.

Calling for New Consistory Members

Being on Consistory is a wonderful opportunity to serve your church.  This is a good time to start thinking about joining the Consistory for the coming years.  We will need elders and deacons starting in January. Whether you have never been on, or have been off for a long or short time, your involvement will be welcome.  Feel free to sit in on a meeting if you would like to see how it all works, or speak with Pastor Susan or any Consistory member with questions.   Join us!

Next Consistory Meeting is November 10, immediately after service.

News

Saturday Mornings with Pastor Susan -- November 2, 9:30AM

(See "SATURDAYS" tab for full schedule)

The topic:   A Primer for Children ages 3-12 years about the Sacraments

We'll explain what they mean, why we do them, and how they nourish our spirits. In our church, children are always welcome to partake of communion and this conversation is meant to help them get the most out of that experience.

Mission Sunday Guest Speaker, October 20 Worship Service

Mr. Lew Osterhoudt from The Clinic in Phoenixville will be here to share in the worship service with us and tell us about his program that provides health care to those who are uninsured in our local area.  He has a short video to show us and will give his own testimony about the work they do. There will be no “sermon” this day – or maybe so – sharing good news about good works is always a “sermon in action.” Please join us for this special time of worship.

Wall Dedication, Sunday, October 20, after worship

Rain or shine -- please join us for the dedication of the new cemetery wall! After many months of watching skilled Jeremiah Wright and his coworkers rebuilding St. Vincent UCC cemetery's crumbling west wall, the project is complete!  The wall has been rebuilt in loving memory of the Family of Vernon L. and Fyeatta H. Rapp with a generous donation from our Evelyn Landis.

A a commemorative plaque is being added in their honor.

Our stone masons will be our guests, as well as Evelyn and her family, to make this event really special. You can make it even more so with your attendance and well wishes! So, please plan to join us this day. Refreshments will be served outdoors for the ceremony.  ??? -- contact Denise J.

Cemetery Tree Plantings

Here is another way that you can participate in the beautification of our cemetery.  Thirteen young flowering trees will be planted along the ridge above the new wall in November 2019.

The dedication ceremony for them will be on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020.

Would you like to sponsor a tree for yourself, in memory of or in celebration of your family or a loved one? Your $300 donation for each tree will include its purchase, installation and ongoing care. If you have an interest, please contact Denise J and she will help you reserve your tree(s).

Harvest Home Sunday, October 27

On this Sunday, we will bless the windowsill decorations to the glory of God. In addition, we will celebrate the beauty of the season and remember the rich history of Harvest Home in the church community.  Windowsills in the sanctuary are available for decorating now -- please pick one and decorate as you like for "Harvest Home."

1st Annual Holiday Bazaar: Saturday, November 9, at St. Vincent UCC

We are having our first annual craft fair on Saturday, November 9.  We have numerous vendors lined up, including a LULAROE representative who will be selling from her trailer boutique in the parking lot.  We will be selling light refreshments from the kitchen, and soups and cookies. This is the same day that most of the churches along "The Ridge" are having their bazaars so there should be lots of foot traffic.

If you can make soup and cookies to sell, or if you can volunteer for a couple of nights to make and jar jellies/jams to be sold, please contact Deb, Brenda or Linda.

Look for our post on the St Vincent UCC Facebook page and please like and share.

Lotto Chance Calendars for 2020

on sale at the November 9 Holiday Bazaar

The Fundraising Committee will be selling its new "2020 Lotto Calendar" at the Holiday Bazaar.  We will have 1000 calendars to sell.  The cost of each is $30.  Buy a bunch, they would make perfect holiday gifts.  Every month brings lots of winners - don't miss out.  Winning numbers are based on Pennsylvania

3-numbers evening drawing.  If your number is picked, the minimum prize you could win is $35.

We will also be selling Cooke Tavern Soups dry soup mix packages

(gluten free, no salt, no MSG) at the dinner for $8 each
